Abstract

This article analyzes the role of women in society, their political and social activity among the peoples of Central Asia during the Middle Ages, as well as the image formed toward them. It discusses the positive and negative effects of the introduction of Islam to the Central Asian states. Using examples of prominent women with high status - such as queens, the etymology of the word “khatun”, and famous historical figures like Saray Mulk Khanum and Gawharshad Begum of the Timurid period - the article highlights the role of women in governance and their social influence. Based on modern research and historical sources, it emphasizes the need to reassess and fully understand womenʼs contributions. This article serves as one step toward restoring the historical image of women and creating a source of inspiration for contemporary women.
